i was driving and i was scared so i got stopped for speeding and my license was already suspended and so i panic and gave my girlfriend name and birthday and they are now talking about pressing charges on me for identity theft and other charges but i’m not in the same state anymore what should i do i’m scared

Am I about to be scammed through Paypal? Help plz!?

Hello everyone I have had a paypal account for a while now and have never sold anything, I have only bought with it and that was easy enough. Now I am currently in the process of selling my PSP system through paypal, in order for me to receive payment I have to verify the tracking number of the package I am sending out, it says to send the tracking number to: paymentconfirmed@mail2consultant.com , and I don’t know if this is a scam or not! It looks legit but I don’t know here is more of the message:

This e-mail is sent to you as a confirmation of payment made to your PayPal account by PayPal Member (———), We have examined the payment for your item and the amount to be credited to your account which is $150.00USD
This transaction is in order and legal.This fund will be credited to your paypal account once the shipment tracking number is sent to our verifying team

Do any of you think the annualcreditreport.com free phone number promotes identity theft?

I called this number, and was surprised the automated system will FIRST ask for your phone number, and THEN announce your name and addres, before asking you if the information is correct.

I mean duh, what is the point of having your number non-published if anyone can call this number to retrieve your exact contact information? Also, the automated service states that if you want to provide a change of address, you only need to write them a letter and include your name, ss#, address, and date of birth. No request for a copy of your drivers license or id is mentioned.

II know some people will rent rooms to people for a few weeks, sometimes a month, and only require their name and rent payment. No proof of their name is usually required. What’s to stop someone from ordering the credit report of another person in this type of living situation, and then disappearing from the scene?

Once someone has your report, it’s the same as having your wallet with credit card #’s ect.
Most people would never even know their credit report was sent to a different address, especially if the person corrects the information within 30 days. I guess the only thing you can do is sign up for one of those credit monitoring services and hope for the best.

BTW, the three credit bureaus will usually ask you to input just the first 3 digits of your address, and then tell YOU if it’s what they have on file. The freeannualcreditreport phone line doesn’t do that. You give them the number, and they tell the caller the name and address. It’s no different than calling name finder plus if you ask me, except that it’s FREE and anonymous.
Also, the annualcreditreport.com website and free number are recommended by large corporations, and has been advertised on national television.
Also, I do realize the 3 bureaus provide yearly free credit reports. However, even if annualcreditreport.com is not used, anyone with an individual’s phone number can call the website and obtain personal information about them as mentioned above.

Is there a way to complain to Yahoo about a specific ad on the site?

I really have issues with the McDonalds “Burgercon” ad that blares “burgercon” every time you enter a page its placed on.

I have Asperger’s Syndrome and have an extreme sensitivity to sudden loud noises. I work a high-stress job in the fraud prevention department of a bank. When I get home I usually go to my laptop, put Springsteen on the media player, plug in my earphones and surf yahoo while I unwind. As soon as I click on a page with the ad, it blares that stupid burgercon thing before I can hit the mute button. It startles me about as bad as a normal person would feel right after hearing a car backfire right behind them.

Don’t tell me to buy an ipod or anything like that. I shouldn’t have to spend money because an advertiser can’t design an ad thats effective without being disturbing to some people.

I don’t mean to be a complainer or a stiff shirt, I just want to have some peace while I try to unwind my way

A loan was acquired under my parents name thru identity theft done by an immediate relative.?

Collection agencies started calling my parents when the relative stopped paying for the said loan.Can my parents transfer the said loan under our relatives name?We want to settle this problem as amicably as possible.My parents need help theyre elderly and I don’t want them to go trough the trouble anymore.The relative who stole there identity is my sister and brother in law.Will a police be able to accompany us in going to my sisters house to demand any sort of resolution and to avoid any altercation?

alternatives to pleading guilty to a 3rd degree retail fraud misdemeanor?

If I do everything in my power to prove to the court that I have taken responsibility for what happened, such as taking a crime prevention class, community service, letters of recommendations, and it is my first offense ever, what are some alternatives to actually getting convicted of the crime? I can get a deferred sentence i know, i know i can get it dropped somehow, but is there anything else? can i get a reduced sentence to a civil infraction or something? this is in michigan and i am 21
