Why do publishers publish books that will never sell?

Posted on June 8th, 2010 in bargain books by

You know the books I’m talking about. Those huge books full of pictures that cost about $30 that you flip through for a minute then reshelf. And the only time anyone actually buys them is when there on the discount rack for $5 or $10. Why do publishers make books like this? They must cost a lot to produce and it doesn’t seem like they sell very well unless they’re bargain priced. Obviously they’re not stupid and may have some reason for doing this but what is it?

What was your best garage sale bargain find?

Posted on June 4th, 2010 in bargain books by

What stands out as the best bargain you ever found at a garage sale?

I found an old carrier for 45rpm records at a garage sale (like the ones girls would take to sleepovers in the 50s and 60s). It was completely filled with just about every Elvis Presley 45 and 45EP (extended play–four songs instead of two) ever made–mint condition most even had picture sleeves instead of the regular paper sleeves. She had them priced at 5 cents each, I bought the entire box for $2. I paid for an entire year of college (tuition, books, living expenses, fun etc) with the proceeds.

Is it possible to negotiate (bargain) nicely AND successfully?

Posted on May 31st, 2010 in bargain books by

Books may say that it’s possible to bargain nicely and get win-win situations when negotiating price on purchases, but what I’ve been hearing from “experienced” co-workers is that it’s war out there and the only way to get a good deal is to be tough. Anyone have any good real life examples where negotiating nicely worked out well? In other words, I know the theory of win-win, but would like some first-hand experience/tips. Thanks.

What is a very good bargain investment?

Posted on May 27th, 2010 in bargain books by

I want to invest money and I am looking for bargains out there.
I think that natural gas is very low at $4, so I want to invest in it.
I also like real estate in Detroit, because there are so many foreclosures there.
I am not planning to invest in degrees because I want to be a self employed investor, and I educate myself reading and learning books.
I don’t like to pick single stocks because they are too risky, I prefer index funds.

Where can i find cheap fear street books?

Posted on May 15th, 2010 in bargain books by

These books are written by R. L. Stine. I have collected about 25 of them at thrift stores over the last couple of months. My daughter loves them. I went to FOUR thrift stores yersterday and found 2 that she didn’t have. She needs about 35 still. I’ve looked on EBAY, but the prices are too high for single books and the lots that they have on there she has 40 percent of them. Is there another website for cheap used books. I love a bargain! Please help

Where is the best place to book a bargain summer holiday?

Posted on May 3rd, 2010 in bargain books by

I am wanting to book a holiday for me, my partner and our 2 children and was wondering where to do this. I am wanting somewhere that’ll be hot, cheap and have plenty to do. I am fairly new to computing and have never used the internet to purchase anything before, so i would really appreciate any useful advice. Thanks.
